Antique Victorian Suffragette Pendant Necklace 15Ct Gold Circa 1900

This beautiful antique Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold pendant necklace was made representing the Suffragette movement, Circa 1900. Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes! The wonderful long pendant is adorned with a violet 0.50ct Amethyst and a green 0.20ct Peridot surrounded by a halo of creamy Pearls. Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels. Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature. This is a lovely Suffragette piece that hangs beautifully around the neck! Weighs 3.7 grams. Measures 16 inches in length. Pendant measures 11mm across x 43mm down. Excellent condition.
